Flower Band

Outfit Breakdown

Off the Shoulder Top: Glamorous ($25 ASOS.com)
Shorts: Cotton On ($10 sale)
Sandals: Target ($20)
Flower Crown: Urban Outfitters ($5 sale)
Belt: Urban Outfitters ($10)
Necklace: Unknown brand ($17 Etsy)

We went to The Summit today in Birmingham to eat at Chuy's Tex-Mex Restaurant and it was great! Tasty and the service was awesome. We also went to Urban Outfitters where I got that flower crown I'm wearing in the pictures. Then we went to Bed Bath & Beyond for me to look at a personal hand held steamer since I despise ironing my clothes. I feel like steaming is easier and doesn't require an ironing table/board.

In addition to those stores we stopped by Riverchase Galleria for me to try to find a hat, but I couldn't find any, so I went back to Urban Outfitters where I was eyeing that was on sale but wanted to check out the mall first before committing to buy one. I will show y'all later what the hat looks like. It's a bright cobalt blue in a felt fabric with a black band. It's good for either summer or winter so it's versatile :) I wanted another hat but it was very summery and I feel like winter will come up too fast for me to even use that hat. Too bad, I kinda really wanted that hat too.

At the end of the day we ate at a Vietnamese restaurant which was pretty tasty, but not on Houston's level of tasty. Still plenty good enough for us to eat though!

Alright that's it! Eventful happy day :)

See you next time!

White Button Up Series | Episode 2: Rich Bitch

Outfit Breakdown:

White Button Up: Target ($10 sale)
Overalls: Forever 21 ($20)
Necklace: Forever 21 ($8)
Shoes: TopShop ($95)

Here's my recent TopShop Kingdom red lace up flats in action! I'm so excited! I went around running errands after doing this photoshoot with my tripod and it was very comfortable! Now I don't know how it'll be if I wear this for extended periods like long walking in NYC or something, but going around so far in the grocery store and what not has been great.

I've gotten a number of compliments and looks and I just wore it out yesterday and today! These flats are truly a show-stopper. So glad I got it! They're still in stock too, so be sure to snag them before they run out again!

As for the outfit, you just can't go wrong with black and white. You just can't. So I styled the White Button Up with a chic black overall I purchased a year or two ago from Forever 21. With these overalls you really can wear a crop top under or just about anything since it's black and looks cute. Even a simple white t-shirt would work well. As for today, I used my White Button Up to show y'all another way to wear that white button up.

Regarding the title of my blogpost, it is actually the title of a personal finance book I'm reading by Nicole Lapin. It's a very good book! It's written in a conversational manner so it's extremely easy to grasp financial concepts quickly and not get bored. I mean I took Accounting (financial, cost, and tax), Finance, Business Statistics, and Economics (micro and macro) at my University but I forgot most things and this book introduced me to things I didn't learn in school or have slipped my mind. It was an instant great refresher on compound interest and among other things one needs to know.

I'm on page 260 out of like 306 I think so I'm getting close to the end! I have learned a lot. I may re-read it actually to get the facts into my head more. I highly recommend this book!

Alright I will see you next time!

Red Slippers: TopShop Kingdom Flats in Red

photo 2_zpsjhffqiar.jpg

photo 3_zpsdc8uysbw.jpg

I finally got my hands on the TopShop Kingdom Flats in Red!

They're so beautiful in person. I haven't worn them out yet though. Just tried them on and they fit perfectly. I'll have to wear them out to test comfort levels but as far as style goes, they look amazing!

I'm unsure whether there's still any left online but I got it from TopShop.com for $95, which to me is ridiculously expensive for shoes but I wanted to treat myself for working so hard last month with face painting non-stop.

These shoes are inspired by the Aquazzura flats that everyone's talking about and wearing. But, alas, I do not have the money for $600 pair of shoes so these inspired ones will do! Plus I like the bright red suede anyway versus going for the usual black.

I ordered one size up and it worked out well! Normally I'm a 6.5 but these are 7.5 and fit nicely.

I will see you guys soon!

Outfit Breakdown:

White Button Up: Target ($10 sale)
Skirt: Prada (gift)
Belt: Unknown (gift)
Heels: Forever 21 ($20)
Necklace: TJ Maxx (20)
Watch: Burberry (gift)
Nails: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nails in Tidal Wave ($8)

So I'm doing a series called The White Button Up Series where I do outfits featuring this affordable Target white button up in different styles. I wanted to give ideas to you guys on how to wear a classic white button up.

I personally like a looser fitted white button up that isn't TOO too loose, and MUST have front pockets. When I found this for $10 on sale at Target, I had to get it! Such a great price for something I've been looking for.

I took these pictures outside of Barnes & Nobles. The plaza was pretty empty since it's Sunday and most people are at Church and stores aren't open yet, so this was my perfect opportunity to take pictures without interruptions!

Alright I'll see you next time!

KIMONO CARDIGAN: A Floral Affair

Hey everyone!

I took my tripod out today to take the pictures. I have no remote so I had to set the timer, press the button and then run and pose. My boyfriend is asleep so I couldn't ask him to take pictures today since I did this at 9am, but that's okay. That's what tripods and self timers are for!

Major props to fashion bloggers who blog every day or even several times a week with using a tripod without a remote. It's super tiring! Got to run back and forth between each shot to make sure the picture turned out good and it isn't over-exposed/too light or blurry.

I went to a nearby park to take these pictures. I was recommended by a friend to take pictures here since there are some things like these pillars and stairs that make a good background scenery.

Outfit Breakdown:

Kimono Cardigan: Target ($27 + tax)
White Crop Top: Abercrombie Kids ($15 sale)
 Jean Shorts: Thrifted and self-cut Levi's 550 ($5)
Heels: Target ($29.99 + tax)

See y'all next time!

Long time no see y'all!

I finally was able to take pictures cause my boyfriend couldn't sleep so he was up at 8am taking these shots for me. I know it's a little washed out of color but I kinda like the sunshine effect on this.

Outfit:
Shirt: Splendid (price unknown--given to me by my sister)
100% Lambskin Leather Shorts: Walter ($12 thrift shop)
Vest: Katherine Barclay ($30 TJ Maxx)
Belt: H&M ($10)
Lace Up Heels: H&M ($70)
Necklace: Old Navy ($8)

These pictures were taken with my new camera, the Sony alpha a5100. I love it!

Hope y'all have a great day and stay cool in this awful hot weather!

BIRTHDAY PRESENT: Sony Alpha a5100

Hello everyone!

I know it's been two months since I last updated, but I've been busy and also my boyfriend has been busy so he can't take pictures of my outfits for me.

Just some updates:

1. This Sunday will be my 25th birthday, and my boyfriend bought me the Sony alpha a5100 in White with a kit lens for my birthday! I don't have a picture of it yet since it's still in shipping but I will get it this Thursday June 18, 2015. I'm very VERY excited. Why? Because this only weighs like 1/2 a pound despite it being a mirrorless DSLR and the screen flips 45 degrees, 90 degrees, or 180 degrees, making it convenient to take selfies for myself or for my boyfriend to angle the screen easily so he doesn't have to bend around in awkward angles to look through the viewfinder. This also means high quality YouTube videos for my channel now! Whoo!

2. I've been hitting the gym 4-6 times a week now and I'm getting stronger! It helps that I go with my boyfriend and his friend who really motivate you to go to the gym and go hard. Plus having to pay for the gym motivates you to go too so that you don't waste your precious money haha.

3. I've been searching for new work for a little while now since my current position isn't paying me the promised amount and they decided to blame me for clocking in wrong. They're only giving me up to 15 hours a week which isn't enough. Luckily my face painting job is holding me up financially.

Life has been rough but still good lately. Mainly rough in the sense of my job but other than that things are great. I hope I will become more financially stable soon.

I decided to dress myself up this morning to put myself in a good mood and here's two selfies of what I look like for today before I go into work:

I hope to be posting more in the coming months after I get my camera. It's just there's hardly any good places to take pictures. I will have to improvise I suppose.

Anyway, thank you for stopping by! I will see you soon.

Oufit Of The Day: Black on Black

What I'm Wearing:

Black Hi-Lo Shirt: Ross $8.99 (Brand: Bozzolo)
Black Sleeveless Embellished Coat: Ross $7.99 (Brand: Malloy)
Ear Jacket Earrings: Ross $4.99 (Brand: Orion) (See close up in last post)
Necklace: Fashion Connection $8 (from Centreville, AL)
Black Pleather Leggings: ASOS.com $20 (Brand: Asos Petite) (old)
Heels: Payless Shoes $17 (old)

I really like that mesh that goes around the bottom of the Hi-Lo Shirt. It adds some slight texture and interest to a regular black Hi-Lo shirt. And I cannot believe I found that Embellished Sleeveless Coat for $7.99! I know it's a no-name brand but I don't care. It looks great! The material isn't cheap feeling either. It's thick and has some weight to it. It also has some shoulder pads to add some structure to the shoulders. I'm loving my new earrings too. Been looking for ear jackets for some time now but they're usually expensive. I have my eye on one from a certain website but man paying over $20 for a pair of earrings that's fashion jewelry is to me expensive. So for now, this fits the bill.

So all in all I got 3 items for roughly $24 (including tax). Not bad!

I wore this outfit out for lunch at Panera Bread with my boyfriend. Pictures of me are courtesy of my boyfriend taking time out of his busy schedule. I directed him how I wanted the pictures to turn out and I must say the first shot I posted in this blogpost is my favorite one by him!

Thank you for visiting my blog. See you in my next post!

My First Ear Jacket Earrings

Ear Jacket: Found at Ross $4.99 (Brand: Orion)

I've been seeing a lot of people have these ear jackets and I've been wanting a pair so bad. I saw one on Baublebar.com but it was like $28 which is out of my budget at the moment. These were just $4.99. They don't look as nice as the ones on Bauble Bar but they still look good!

The drawback? The bottom part dips too low. I wanted it to hug the curve of the bottom of my ear but I understand the "one size" thing.

Do you have ear jacket earrings? What do you think of them?

See you in my next post!

My Productive Day Look

photo IMG_9433_zpstqkmnrzi.jpg

So on April 21, 2015, I wrote myself a simple To-Do list to clean the apartment. I first went to some stores to run errands and buy things I need and wore that look I have in the above pictures. Hair up in a bun, red lips, and white button down.

Such a quick and simple look but it's effective since it's classic.

I know you can't see my whole outfit because I don't have a picture of it. I've been having trouble lately taking pictures because it's usually someone else like my boyfriend taking the pictures for me but he's been busy doing school work so he can't take pictures for me. As far as self timer and tripod goes, the camera just did not want to focus on my outfit or face and things came out blurry.

I'll have to find a way to do full body shots since I want to show you what I've been wearing.

As far as beauty goes, I've just been obsessed with two lipsticks: MAC Russian Red (which is what I'm wearing in the above pictures) and Revlon Color Burst in #120 Vivacious. You'll be seeing these two lipsticks in action for a handful of posts. Hope you don't mind!

Back to the To-Do list. I completed 4 out of the 5 things I listed. I felt so accomplished! There's something about writing things down and checking them off as you complete them that is so satisfying. Usually I'm quite a lazy person but I've been doing these To-Do check off lists and it's been effective for me to getting off my butt and doing things.

Alright I will see you in my next post!

Selphi Boutique Purchases

Selphi Boutique Purchases:

Red Plaid Button Down: The Hanger (brand) $9.xx sale
Multi-layered necklace: $6.xx sale
Black Sheer Blouse: BCBGeneration (brand) $20.xx sale
Anchor Necklace: $4.xx sale
Navy Belt: $3.xx sale

If you have seen my last post, I wore the BCBGeneration black sheer blouse, though I understand you probably cannot see it too clearly since the photo is at an angle.

Anyway, Selphi Boutique has 75% off all price tags with a red slash mark on it so I got everything on sale at a great price. I've probably walked into this store a dozen times last month to the point where the workers recognize me! The store has reasonable prices, though some are pricey for what they are, but that's what waiting for sales are for.

I've been wanting the above items for quite some time now. I have some black blouses but they aren't good quality or they are of a style I regret purchasing. The BCBGeneration black blouse shown here is more of a classic style that will go with just about anything so I had to get it. I also already have a red plaid button down but it isn't as nice as this The Hanger brand red plaid shirt where the plaids are bigger in size which in my opinion looks better.

As for the necklaces, I've been wanting a multi-layered necklace and I've found a number of them, but the price tags scared me away. Paying just $6.xx for the one shown above is such a steal. Glad I checked every necklace on that necklace stand for the sale-red-slash mark for 75% off. For the anchor necklace, it's not that I've been lemming for one but when I saw it, it was too cute to pass. I have a thing for anchors and adorable cartoon whales so this necklace totally works for me.

Alright I have to go to work now so I will see you in my next post!
