At Home Anthro Inspired Display Takes A Detour

Hello!

It's been a considerable amount of time since I've last blogged, for the reason that I've worked a lot the last month. I mostly worked 6 days a week for about 2.5 weeks and then some scattered 3-4 days in another week. The other months I was just plain busy.

So having said that, I didn't have time to finish my Fall/Halloween display. Instead now I have taken a detour and am incorporating the leaves and giant roses I've made and have joined them with snowflakes to create a more Autumn Winter vibe.

Below is an a work in progress that has not been glued or anything. I just placed them together to get a feel for what I might want to position them as. I want to better position the leaves and then have some strings comes out at certain areas with some weaving involved. Then at the end of the strings I want to have some snowflakes or just something to finish off the ends.

Upon finishing up this blog post, I have actually outlined the giant rose petals with glitter! I'll show y'all more progress pictures later once I get more progress.

I'm excited!

And as far as clothes photoshoot goes, I made myself a Dia de Muertos outfit since I face painted for Day of the Dead Birmingham (Alabama). I did take pictures, or more rather my boyfriend did. I'll be uploading those pictures after this post.

See y'all later!

Autumn Leaves and Pumpkin Beginnings

Hello!

As you can see below, I've busied myself with Autumn leaves! That's all that I made so far. I need to make a lot more actually. But I sure like how they turned out!

Here I am making the print for the pumpkins. I prototyped a baby pumpkin to see how it'd turn out. So far so good!

This week has truly been exciting.

Aside from that, I've been cleaning my new apartment a lot. There's still a lot that needs to be sorted out and thrown away, to be sold, or to be donated. It's a slow and steady process. But I cannot wait to get everything organized and in order! I love to organize things! Also this would provide me room to put up my Fall display once everything is clean.

Cannot wait for Fall weather. Though I hear this year will be a hot and humid Fall rather than a cool one. We'll see. I just love being able to bust out my cute sweaters and not feeling like I took a shower the moment I step outside for five minutes.

Alright, I shall see you soon!

Making Things Happen. Anthropologie-Style.

Hello everyone!

Lately what I've been up to is creating Anthropologie-inspired displays for my own apartment.

I want to create a Fall and Halloween themed look, where I will have a pumpkin with vines coming out. Then on the vines are leaves attached and flowing out along with some other 3D designs for Halloween/Fall related things.

So far I've made some leaves. I used watercolor paper and painted it with of course watercolor in a Red-Orange-Yellow color scheme with a pop of Green to show that it is the Fall and leaves are changing from green to a beautiful red, without creating the brown that complimentary colors on the color wheel make when touching one another.

On a related note, I did attend a Display Workshop at my local Anthropologie where I was delegated work to make a dandelion out of a styrofoam ball, glue, sand, and spray painted straws. I spent 3 hours on my dandelion, and paid attention to detail since an Anthropologie display is always perfection and professional.

I was incredibly happy to see my dandelion below displayed in their store! The other hard working ladies at the workshop contributed to making the other surrounding flowers you see along with a couple other dandelions.

I was just so in the zone at the workshop! It was therapeutic as well as addicting in helping to create their display. Once they post up their holiday display workshop times, I am going to do everything I can to make it there.

And you know, doing these crafts is seriously amazing. I have in the past at school done various forms of art, such as working with molding clay (scoring the clay and using water to adhere pieces to one another), painting with acrylic, tempura, and watercolor, print-making, and color pencils using Prisma colors. I also sew by hand and with a machine.

I guess you can say along with fashion, I am totally into arts and crafts.

Here's the Fall leaves I mentioned earlier!

The last picture is a "behind the scenes" and "in progress" shot. I think a lot of people see the end results of projects and don't quite understand what goes into it. It's a lot of patience. A lot of waiting for paint and glue to dry. A lot of gripping the exacto knife continuously to cut a unique shape out multiple or hundreds of times. Of course there are other time-saving ways to approach this. I really could stack painted papers on top of each other and cut the same shape out multiple times if I were to do this for an actual store display where hundreds of leaves would probably be needed.

Hope y'all enjoyed this different post! I will make more progress posts on my apartment Fall display along the way.

See y'all soon!

I know this is more of a Fall outfit, but I don't care. I've been dying to wear out my thigh high boots but only got them after Winter ended.

Ok see you in my next post!

Back to the Bakery

Hi all!

I went back to Edgar's Bakery to take pictures of me in my new Anthropologie dress!
I also bought some Challah and Chocolate Babka. The Challah was rather dry but the Babka is awesome. Probably will skip out on Challah next time and select something else.

But I present to you my beloved Anthroplogie Allusione Sheath dress!

Canterbury Clothiers and Lunch at Edgar's Bakery [Tuscaloosa, Alabama]

A friend recommended to eat at Edgar's Bakery in Tuscaloosa/Northport, and my boyfriend and I were pleasantly surprised that the price point was great and the quality of food was pretty good too. Dessert choices and taste were awesome.

So that's what the store looks like! Very cute and pretty.

I ordered the Pesto Chicken Sandwich which was delicious.

We got desserts after. We felt like getting something "normal" so my boyfriend got a simple slice of yellow cake with icing and I got myself a dense and delicious brownie.

Oh and that's a new gold feather bracelet I got recently from Francesca's for $7 (there was a BOGO50% off)

I walked into Canterbury Clothiers boutique nearby in that same plaza and I was pleasantly surprised to find brands like Theory, Rag & Bone, Derek Lam, Elizabeth & James, etc. Keep in mind that Tuscaloosa's shopping scene is severely lacking, especially with me coming from Houston where good shopping and great deals are everywhere.

There was even a nice sale rack of 50-75% off. I found a nice white button down dress by Derek Lam but it had a stain on it and I felt like the $200 sale price is steep for something with a stain. Of course that's why it was on sale in the first place, but still. If it was $100 I'd buy it to be honest. It looked rather original with how the bottom pleats were arranged to make a simple white button down more unique. Basically I wanted to buy the whole store.

Needless to say I will return to this store!

What's amazing is that they had a men's section that was just as big and just as amazing as the women's section. They carried Paige denim jeans for men as well. Many different shoes for men's which is unheard of at a boutique. So many Sports Coats in all patterns and colors were available. This store is incredible.

So that's my day! Today was quite good and now I have a new lunch spot to frequent and a store to check out. Exciting!

See y'all later!

Let's Take It Inside

Hello y'all!

I finally have a chance to take some pictures of my outfit, but I had to take it inside my apartment versus doing it outside next to pretty flowers or whatever.

My boyfriend is unable to take pictures of me since he's asleep so I took my tripod to do this indoors, hence the title.

How is everybody doing?

Top: Unknown (10 years old!)
Kimono: Forever 21 (3/23/16 Small only in stock) $28
Shorts: H&M (old)
Shoes: Louise et Cie Hermosah in Black (Nordstrom) $117; purchased used for $35 eBay
Headband: Francesca's Boutique $9

Hopefully I can take some more outfit pictures, but it might just have to be indoors unless I can get my boyfriend to do the pictures.

See y'all later!
